If you’ve ever wondered why vampires (allegedly!) feel so at home in New Orleans, look no further than The Dungeon. Located in the city’s famous French Quarter, this “secret” bar sits a block away from the Gardette-LePrete Mansion—which is, itself, steeped in spookiness. As the story goes, the home was leased by the brother of a Turkish sultan during the Civil War who was a bit of a party animal. That was, until one night when the house fell silent and passersby noticed blood dripping down the front steps.
I divided the guests into teams of 6 ahead of time and assigned couples to be drivers prior to the party. Once everyone arrived at the party and we ate our hospital theme party food, the competition began. Pill bottles — I ordered a couple dozen large orange pill bottles and designed and printed custom labels with the logo of our haunted asylum and the names of some of our guests! I filled the bottles with candy and left them around the apartment, on kitchen counters, on the dining room table, on windowsills, etc. This was a big hit, and very easy to do. The idea was to turn the family room into a haunted hospital waiting room of sorts.
The Sallie House
I love these battery operated taper candles. The courtyard is the main stage with fantastic shows. Go to the moat, and you will be threatened by monsters, werewolves, witches and zombies. For the very brave, the tower of terror introduces you to the dark side of the Middle Ages.
But with metal drawers in an old morgue, you’ve got a door that swings opens on hinges, and then the cadaver is on a metal platform that slides out. For these fake drawers I also made little rusty name plates and I wrote the names of various party guests on ’em. The rusty hinges and name plates were just graphics that I designed in Photoshop, printed out, and cut out and pasted on. Halloween is one of my absolute favorite holidays.
This House is Haunted Metal Sign
Adding a strobe light at the bottom of the statue makes sure you can see him when it’s dark. After finding an inexpensive chalkboard at Michael’s and creating a vinyl sign to go on it with my Cricut, I needed a post to hang it from. From handmade pieces to vintage treasures ready to be loved again, Etsy is the global marketplace for unique and creative goods. It’s also home to a whole host of one-of-a-kind items made with love and extraordinary care. While many of the items on Etsy are handmade, you’ll also find craft supplies, digital items, and more. She bought a nurse’s uniform online, stained it with tea, and then splatted red acrylic paint on it for blood.

I thought of an operating room, morgue, even a zombie baby nursery, but I'm having trouble finding where I could find props and such at lower (non-profit) prices. I wanted to transform the house without spending a fortune, and to me, a big focal wall is always a good idea. In this post you can read how I transformed the wall in my family room with the old medical book pages.
Halloween Haunted Hospital
In the 1970s US soldiers founded an annual Halloween festival at Burg Frankenstein, which is now the biggest of its kind in Germany. Since then, the castle is haunted by monsters and zombies at Halloween. From the Autobahn A5 take exit 27 Darmstadt-Eberstadt, then the Bundesstrasse B426 towards Darmstad Eberstadt and Ober-Ramstadt.
I also put a real bow saw on the windowsill! I covered the blade with a fake poster board blade, just in case some drunk decided to play with the thing and hurt himself. Hidden and exclusive, The Dungeon is a tribute to those lavish parties.
If you’re looking for some Halloween party decor ideas, try out this Halloween haunted hotel theme. With a DIY hotel sign, luggage cart and check in desk, complete with ghosts and skeletons, it’s sure to be a big hit. The whole hallway is just about five feet wide by eight feet long; tiny. We always decorate the hell out of this small enclosed space, so from the minute you open that first door, you’re transported into our spooky Halloween world! The only thing that might be cheaper would be trash bags, cut open and flatted out.
Some cool looking pill bottles were the start of the inspiration for this spooky hospital themed party for Halloween. The Haunted Halloween Hospital theme gave me the chance to come up with with some fun hospital party ideas and creepy hospital Halloween decorations. I've been working at a non-profit organization for the past few years now, every year we hold a Halloween party and haunted house for the kids and youth. Last years house had a butcher shop theme and everyone loved it. This year we figured we'd do a hospital theme and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to share.
Touch device users, explore by touch or with swipe gestures. Whether it’s a laid-back dinner for a few friends or an over-the-top Halloween party (my favorite holiday!), I love finding beautiful and creative ways to entertain in style. As usual, I used a lot of these color changing LED spot lights, which add general ambiance to the yard. I made the skeleton driver look a little spookier by adding a purple uplight that makes him much easier to see in the dark. Hanging a black light over the top of it makes the white letters glow at night. I also found old medical books at an antique store that I used to decorate the mantel, along with some other creepy looking decor.

Since you can’t have a good hotel without a bar , I set up some outdoor seating. Blue spotlights make them seem to glow in the dark. Of course, you can’t have a hearse (or a “dead and buried” hotel) without a graveyard.
The frames in our bathroom have various anatomical drawings of human and animal skeletons, so, again, just about perfect for the theme of the party. A skeleton bell boy with a DIY luggage cart is a given at my Halloween haunted hotel. Padded walls — This was the biggest and most challenging decoration I made for this theme; kind of the centerpiece for the whole party, and a good backdrop for guests to take photos. See my article about making the padded walls.
Each item had a different point value, and there was NO way you could complete them all in the time allotted. This forced each team to pick and choose which activities they would complete, making each team’s hunt a bit different. Teams were given a 3 mile radius from our house in which they could complete the tasks.
I simply took normal things that you would find in a medical office and made them a little bit spooky. I made a “take a number” sign from cardboard. I added dead houseplants and creepy looking, old magazines. I added homemade prescription labels to glassine bags and guests were encouraged to fill their bags with things like beetle larvae and human blood capsules to create their own concoction. It was a hit and worked great with the hospital themed party.

I filled them with candy corn and created a prescription for a dangerously good time with all of the party details included on the label. I wanted the Halloween hospital theme to really be apparent right from the moment guests saw the invitations. Because all of the guests lived close by, these hospital theme party invitations were hand delivered to the guest’s doorsteps.
